Half way through this crazy year!
There IS a smile under that mask!
2020 has been quite the year…. Probably the largest understatement of the decade! I’ve had many people ask me how I’ve been doing at the studio. Well, I haven’t blogged in quite a while now and that has been because we have been super busy! I don’t want that to come off as bragging since many friends of mine are slow or out of work. But the truth remains that I’ve been really busy.
When I decided to resign from Sierra|SGS studio and follow my dreams to open my own studio back in 2016, I never expected what would come. My studio was successful and has remained so but not only because of my hard work, but because of a partnership! A partnership that was fair. One that I built with Sierra over the years. In January 2020 the SGS location that housed Sierra moved into a smaller location not capable of housing a studio. So Sierra moved in with me. A win win situation. I ended up with a partner to share the studio and they ended up with continued photo services from this part of the country. My own clientele has slowed a little due to Covid lock-downs but Sierra|SGS being an international company with clients around the world has been busy (which means I’m busy as their go-to photographer). Many jobs that may have gone to their Toronto studio have ended up here, as it has been harder to ship food items cross-boarder due to this pandemic).
During this time we have done 99% of these shoots using Microsoft Teams to collaborate with clients and art directors in Toronto and NewYork. We are able to share our capture platform (Screen share) with them and they can request adjustments on the fly. We have the audio feature on so that we can easily communicate through-out the shoot with the option to use the mute function.
Kevin Scott Photography clientele and shoots are picking back up. I’m optimistic for the rest of this year. I understand that Fall may bring more challenges and so the studio will continue to adjust to get your work done on time and on budget but with creativity and quality.
